This Ames social club for women was founded in 1905 as the Komfort Klub, but later used only the initials “KK.” Members from both town and gown were invited to join and included such recognizable names as: Winifred Tilden, Minnie Rice, Rachel Edgar, Edith Sunderlin, Harriet Adams, Gertrude Herr, Marie Stephens, and Margaret Warning. The club met monthly in members’ homes for programs. Other activities included founding day birthday parties and guest night at which plays and skits were sometimes performed. The club finally disbanded by consensus in 1986 for lack of new members.
