Lincoln School was located at 126 South Kellogg,
today the site of the Story County Human Services building.

The Lincoln Elementary Building stood on the site of an early Ames school.  It opened in 1912 with Alice Williams as Principal.  It originally had four classrooms, 2 restrooms, a furnace room, a storeroom, and two small office areas.  As enrollment increased, the first addition was built by Ben Cole for $34,000 in 1919.  The second addition was added in 1926, using a blue brick which contrasted to the original red.  Mrs. Kate Mitchell served as Principal for 38 years.  After 1970, Lincoln School served as administrative offices for the Ames School District.  - more -
