Inspection Line
Tribune photo published Aug. 5, 1950
Operations at the Green Giant canning company plant here still hadn’t reached full swing yesterday, with the company experiencing difficulty in getting the corn picking into high gear, but there still was plenty to do on the inspection line for Bernice Morris, above, of Ames. Bernice, “lead-lady” on the inspection line, is a veteran of 13 or 14 years at the plant, heads a crew of 25 women as they closely scan the corn moving past them on a conveyor.
The Ames Canning Factory operated from 1918-1957 at their facility south of the tracks at the corner of Third Street and Bourne Avenue.
