This image from a 1912 postcard shows Ames National Bank on the southeast corner of Kellogg and Main.  Today the home of Quilting Connection, the building held Ames Stationers when the second story caught fire in November of 1987.  It was rebuilt and has served since as a single story building.

Meeker School primary children have been in the new school addition about a month.  Here children of Mrs. Mary J. Maahs, second grade, hold class in one of the rooms.  The boys at the display in the back are left to right Bobby Penny, David McMarland, Douglas Shadle, and Bobby Doran.  Mrs. Maahs is at right.  Next year the new addition will house most primary grades at Meeker, and the old building will house the Intermediate groups.
